About Me

Hello, I'm Lesa-Kaye

I help do gooders (nonprofit staff, volunteers, board members) win their first or next grant so that they can unlock possibilities for their community.

Lesa-Kaye Holtham, MPH, GPC is a certified grant professional and GPA-approved grant trainer, who has won over $30 million in grants from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. She has worked at nonprofits, universities, a grantmaking public charity, and served as a federal grant reviewer.

speaking & TRAININGS WITH:

What if I told you there was a better way to make a bigger impact?

My Story (the short version): I’m a Jamaican immigrant from a family dedicated to service. My parents wanted me to become a doctor but once I got to college, I realized that there was more than one way to serve and make a bigger community impact. After college, I pursued a career in nonprofits to raise power in communities.

In 2012, when I started my first “grown-up” full-time nonprofit job in Washington, DC, I was told it was time to write a grant. I had never written a grant, completely clueless, overwhelmed by the process, and all the information floating on the internet.

RECEIPTS

Let’s be real, you want a coach who not only leads by example (has won millions in grants for nonprofits and helped others across the U.S. do the same) but also brings training and a diverse skillset to the table.

“I love the way Lesa-Kaye breaks down the grant writing process so that it's easy to understand and implement.”

It has been a pleasure to work with Lesa-Kaye. She excels in all aspects of strategic project development as well as the grant process itself. She is a consummate professional and a delight to work with. And … her track record says it all!”

How I Went From Zero To Winning Millions In Grants.

What helped me push past the fears of failure and self-doubt? My love for the nonprofit’s mission, the people it served, and support and guidance from other female nonprofit colleagues.

It took a few trials, miss-steps, false starts but through learning along the way about what works (and honestly, what does not work). With my passion for serving the community, the support of like-minded women, and taking intentional action steps, I was able to win my first grant – $50,000 to provide health care services to people who were homeless in Washington, D.C.

Grants are won (or lost) before you put pen to paper.

With each grant, I learned that the key to success was having a strategy.

Taking the right action steps before, during, and after, you apply for grants, yields remarkable results. When we get this part of grant seeking right, results follow. For more than 10 years, I’ve used this approach helped nonprofits, from local to large and national organizations, gain a competitive edge to win over $16 million (and counting) in grants from foundations, corporations, U.S. local, state, and federal government agencies.
